This event is for Philanthropy Australia Arts Funders Network members. We welcome other funders at the New Gen, Active, Engaged or Impact membership levels who are funding or have interest in funding in the arts.

Andrew Baker is Head of Vibrant & Connected Communities at Minderoo Foundation, where he leads a national body of work empowering communities to thrive through arts, culture and creativity, and active participation. Andrew has a background in both arts and commercial law, and has been at Minderoo for over 5 years. |

Founded in 2001, Minderoo is a philanthropic foundation seeking to uplift communities, support gender equality, protect natural ecosystems and respond to emerging threats and challenges. Under its new 2030 Strategy, Minderoo has embraced a partner-led approach, ensuring those closest to challenges are empowered to drive solutions. Minderoo’s Communities Focus Area prioritises child and community wellbeing. Neal Harvey - Chief Executive Officer, Tim Fairfax Family Foundation
Neal commenced as CEO of the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation in January 2021. Prior to this role, Neal was a Program Manager at The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund. During his time with The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund, Neal helped secure the tax-free status of the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships, establish A New Approach (Australia’s first think tank dedicated to arts and culture), and create the National Assistance Program for the Arts – a nation-wide COVID-19 emergency program supported by 29 philanthropists in every Australian state and territory.

Neal has a First-Class Honours BA and a PhD from the University of Queensland and an MBA from University of Melbourne/Melbourne Business School. Neal is a past Chair of Yarra City Council’s Arts Advisory Committee, Melbourne company Snuff Puppets, and Philanthropy Australia’s Arts Funders Network. Neal is a Fellow of the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences. |

Alex Dimos - Executive Director and Founder, Nunn Dimos Foundation; Board Member, Philanthropy Australia
Alexandra (Alex) is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Nunn Dimos Foundation and more recently the South Australian Women’s Fund. Alex’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (Geological, Environmental Engineering, Honours) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Governor’s Leadership Foundation. She works across both the commercial and philanthropic sector.

Her career started in the environmental sector, with over 30 years’ experience, working with several consulting firms, specialising in hydrogeology, where she held senior project management and leadership roles. In 1999, she founded Flow Environmental Management, specialising in providing strategic environmental advice.

She has also held a role as the Executive Director of the Advertiser Foundation, a foundation delivering targeted campaigns with the view of engaging staff and the South Australian community to give to causes that they care most about.

Alex is a Non-Executive Director, with roles in the education, the not-for-profit and the arts sectors. She currently serves as a Member of Creative Australia (Australia Council), a Director of Philanthropy Australia and vice-chair, of the Scotch College Foundation.

Anna Nieuwenhuysen – Grant Manager, Besen Family Foundation
Anna Nieuwenhuysen is the Program Manager at the Besen Family Foundation. She leads the Foundation’s Arts & Culture Program, which supports independent artists and institutions across a diverse range of art forms including, dance, theatre, music, visual arts and community cultural development.

Anna joined the philanthropic sector after an extensive career in the arts across government, commercial and museum art institutions, including collection management at the National Gallery of Victoria in the International Decorative Arts department. |
|
|
|
Anna has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, Art History) from the University of Melbourne and completed her postgraduate studies at Christie’s in London followed by an internship at The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. |
|
|
|
Anna also served as Cultural Adviser to the Australian High Commission in London where she steered the cultural diplomacy strategy to leverage the Australian Government’s international relations and policy priorities. |

Louise Joel – Arts Program Manager, The Ian Potter Foundation
Louise Joel is the Arts Program Manager responsible for The Ian Potter Foundation’s Vibrant funding pillar, including The Ian Potter Cultural Trust, The Ian Potter Moving Image Commission, and the Foundation’s Arts program area.

Louise holds a Bachelor of Arts (Art History) from The University of Melbourne, a Master’s degree in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Manchester University (Singapore), and a Masters of Business Administration from The Australian Institute of Business.

Prior to joining the Ian Potter Foundation in July 2022, Louise had worked for private galleries, auction houses, large public museums, in the government sector, and as an independent specialist arts business consultant.

Kim Harland - Director Engagement (QLD & NT), Philanthropy Australia
Kim has more than 20 years experience in the multi-generational family business and not-for-profit sectors in Queensland. She has a passion for proactive stakeholder outreach and engagement, connectivity and strategic partnerships/alliances.

Prior to joining Philanthropy Australia, Kim established two businesses from the ground-up, one that continues as a premier independent family business advisory firm in Brisbane. She remains passionate about this space and how families in business use philanthropy to provide purpose for next generation members and as a catalyst for generational transition.
