Overview
Off the back of the budget announcement in May, join us in conversation with Andrew Smith, CEO of Education Services Australia as we delve into the key priorities of the government for the remainder of the year. Engage in the wider discussion about how philanthropy might work with ESA and other national agencies, and how we can think differently about government engagement with philanthropy.

Andrew Smith – Chief Executive Officer, Education Services Australia
Andrew Smith is CEO of Education Services Australia, a not for profit education technology company owned by all Australian education ministers. ESA develops and deploys national education infrastructure, develops digital education resources and provides technology-based services to the education sector. Andrew has qualifications in education, science and business and brings to the role of CEO extensive experience and expertise in strategic leadership in the education, training and not-for-profit sectors. Having started his career in the classroom, Andrew’s previous roles include Vice President (Engagement) at Swinburne University and CEO of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training.

Megan Enders – Chief Executive Officer, Fogarty Foundation (WA)
Megan has been CEO of the Foundation since February 2022 after several years on the Board and was also Founding Director of the whole school improvement program Fogarty EDvance, from 2011 to 2015. She is also currently the convenor of a Western Australian group of philanthropies and funders with a shared interest in supporting infants and youths (a subset of the wider Investment Dialogue collaboration nationally).
Megan has expertise in the area of collaboration, organisational leadership and change management, in both the ‘for profit’ and ‘for purpose’ sectors, having held senior executive roles with organisations such as Rio Tinto, Western Power and also in community and aged care. Earlier in her career Megan served as a senior policy advisor in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and to a former Federal Government Minister
John Bush – Head of School Age Learning at Paul Ramsay Foundation (NSW)
John supports a portfolio of grant partners and leads grantmaking and strategy development related to school-age learning.
John has previously been in the leadership teams for two not-for-profit education start-ups, Evidence for Learning and High Resolves. He also led the design and delivery of the SVA Education Dialogue. John spent the first decade of his career as a teacher and school leader. He is on advisory boards for several education partnerships and organisations and has been on selection panels for Australian teaching and social innovation awards.
