Philanthropy essentials workshop – giving with impact
This three-hour workshop will provide information for new staff to philanthropy or those interested in a refresh to:

- Understand the philanthropy landscape
- Learn about approaches to giving in Australia – and policy changes from history to present
- Consider structures and types of giving, from Community foundations to Private Ancillary Funds (PAFs), Donor Advised Accounts (public ancillary funds), Testamentary Charitable trusts, workplace giving and bequests, through to giving circles
- Share good practice giving in terms of due diligence, collaboration, pay-what-it-takes, reporting and monitoring
- Explore stories of giving and case-studies
- Consider impact through an innovative tool - the Periodic Table of Philanthropy

Individuals new to philanthropy or interested in refreshing their knowledge of the philanthropic landscape. Open to all members and non-members, funders and not-for-profits.
Guest Presenter:
Ben Clark - Founder of Giving Connect and a trustee of the Phillips Foundation and a director at Living Ripples.
Ben has been helping philanthropists and advisers for nearly 15 years, most recently as Head of Philanthropy and Social Investment for a listed wealth management company where he stewarded a portfolio of charitable and native title trusts worth more than $750M. He has held numerous board and advisory committee positions with not-for-profit organisations, including board member for the Gertrude Contemporary and Resale Royalty Advisory Committee for Copyright Agency Limited. Ben is also a trustee of the Philipps Foundation and a director of Living Ripples Ltd. He was a founding board member of Impact 100 Melbourne. Ben is passionate about making giving easy, so he founded Giving Connect, a social enterprise and a philanthropic advisory firm with The Australian Centre of Social Innovation (TACSI) crew. Giving Connect was established in partnership with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (USA).
