Philanthropy Australia, partnering with JB Were for these series of events, will share how intergenerational wealth transfers can shape and improve the future of philanthropy and giving in Australia.
Hear from John McLeod, Senior Research Consultant, JBWere Australia the author of The Bequest Report the first ever report of its kind, who will outline valuable sector benefits and opportunities for both individuals, families and charities.
An interactive panel session featuring perspectives from NFPs will outline how they are unlocking funds and innovating within their gifts in wills programs.

John McLeod - Senior Research Consultant, Family Advisory and Philanthropic Services at JBWere
John co-founded the JBWere Philanthropic Services in 2001. Prior to this John spent 16 years as a financial analyst and manager of the Resource Research group within the firm's top-ranking strategy team. John produces the leading research reports into the trends in the for-purpose and philanthropy sectors. In 2013, John co-authored the Impact - Australia report with the Federal Government, highlighting the current practice and growth potential for Impact Investing. In 2017, John co-authored Growing Impact in New Zealand, released at the Social Enterprise World Forum held in Christchurch. John has also produced the following research insights:

Rachel has been working with philanthropists and funders both in Australia and the UK for more than 10 years. Prior to Philanthropy Australia, Rachel was at Australian Philanthropic Services (APS) where she advised clients on all elements of their giving including strategy development, charity analysis and social sector research.
Rachel has also worked at Social Ventures Australia (SVA), the Social Impact Hub and headed up New Philanthropy Capital’s (NPC) Funder Effectiveness team in the UK.
Rachel is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) having started her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Kingsley Edwards - Bequests Manager, Barnardos Australia
Kingsley is a Bequests Manager at Barnardos Australia - a charity which has been supporting abused and neglected children to recover and thrive for over 100 years. Kingsley established their bequest program just over three years ago and in that time, the number of confirmed bequestors has increased by more than 150%.
After a corporate career spanning two decades, he transitioned his relationship-building skills to fundraising before specialising in gifts-in-Wills. Kingsley holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Sydney, a Diploma in Financial Services from the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance, and a Certificate in Professional Fundraising from the Fundraising Institute of Australia.
Anne McFadden - Director of Planned Giving, Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation
Anne brings over four decades of experience in fundraising and social work to her career. Her journey began as a Social Worker, dedicating over 20 years to making a meaningful impact in Ireland and Australia. In 2003, Anne transitioned into the fundraising sector and by 2013 she discovered her true passion in the realm of gift in Wills. Starting as the sole team member dedicated to Planned Giving, Anne has since spearheaded its expansion significantly and today, she oversees a team of five fundraising an average of $19 mil a year for Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation.

Karen is World Vision's Chief of Private Funding. With 20 years' experience in fundraising, philanthropy and NFP leadership, she is an experienced Board Director, NFP CEO and former Chair of Fundraising Institute Victoria.
Karen's formal studies include an MBA, Doctor of Business Leadership, she is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), and Fellow Certified Leadership Practitioner.
Karen's teams have multiple awards including 2021 FIA Team of the Year, she is a Global Gallup Coach, Certified EQ Practitioner Facilitator of The Leadership Challenge.
